Airside Centre connects all three concourses (A, B, E) via an underground shuttle — clean, fast, and well-signposted in four languages.

Currency & ATMs
Switzerland uses CHF. UBS and Credit Suisse ATMs are plentiful. Avoid currency exchange booths — rates are unfavourable.

Where to Recharge at ZRH
Zurich punches above its weight for lounge quality. Swiss International Air Lines operates its own signature spaces, and several Pay-to-Enter options make access easy.
SWISS Senator Lounge
Flagship lounge in Concourse E. Cold-plate Swiss buffet, premium Illy coffee, and panoramic apron views. Access via Star Alliance Gold or business class ticket.
SWISS Business Lounge
Located in Concourses A and B. Hot food stations, wine selection, and reliable showers. Less formal than Senator but still excellent.
Airport Club Lounge
Available to all travellers for a day-pass fee. Comfortable seating, snacks, and a quieter environment away from the main terminal bustle.
Diners Club Lounge
Open to Diners Club card holders and Priority Pass members. Good for a quiet hour with a drink and basic refreshments.

The real thing — Gruyère-Vacherin blend, crusty bread cubes, and a glass of Fendant white wine. Unmissable on a cold layover.

Lindt, Sprüngli, and Camille Bloch all have airport outposts. Pick up Luxemburgerli if Sprüngli is open — they don't travel well, so eat them there.

Zurich in Under 30 Minutes
The train connection from ZRH to Zurich Hauptbahnhof (HB) is one of the world's best airport rail links. You need at least 3 hours layover to justify the trip; 4+ hours is comfortable.
Airport Station (below Terminal 2)
Follow signs to "Bahn / Train" — it's a 3-minute walk from Arrivals. Tickets from the SBB machine (card accepted, no cash needed).
S-Bahn S2 or S16 → 10 minutes
Trains run every 10 minutes, day and night. A single to Zurich HB costs ~CHF 7. Buy a return to save time.

Europe's busiest terminus. The historic hall is worth seeing itself — and it's where everything connects.

Check-in Ahead for the City
You can drop bags at the RailCity luggage storage at HB station — free up your hands for a proper city wander.
Security Timing: Aim for Off-Peak
07:00–09:00 and 16:00–18:00 are busiest. ZRH is efficient but budget 30 min buffer. PreClear lanes move faster.
Duty-Free Is Worth It Here
Swiss chocolate, watches, and Swiss Army knives are genuinely good value post-security. The Lindt shop has tastings.
Power Up in Concourse E
Concourse E (long-haul gates) has the best power outlet density and quieter seating than the main terminal.
VAT Refunds Are Easy Here
Global Blue and Planet desks are landside and airside. Swiss VAT (7.7%) on purchases over CHF 300 is refundable — worth claiming.
Get Off the Beaten Path
Skip the main food court. The Airside Centre's upper floors have less-crowded restaurants with better views of the tarmac and pre-Alps horizon.
